Navigating Complicated Relationships – Michaela Gaffen Stone

In this week’s episode, Michaela Gaffen Stone, Human Behavior Expert is interviewing a special guest who is going to tell you about how changing your thinking can be a hugely effective way to solve BIG problems.

Think about this: Do you find yourself keeping quiet around people, walking on eggshells because you’re afraid of getting into a disagreement? Do you avoid expressing your opinions about topics you care about because other people often react with anger? Do family discussions about important decisions or behaviors seem to spiral into shouting matches? In this episode we’ll look at ways to drain the tension out of situations. Join Michaela Gaffen Stone and her special guest Alex W as we explore some steps to reconcile conflict by building mutual understanding, respect, and trust.

Alex Weissenfels is an eccentric existentialist philosopher specializing in applied metacognition–figuring out how to change how we think to more effectively solve problems. With his engineering education and intense technical support experience, he can troubleshoot a variety of problems through research and testing. He can pick up knowledge of new systems rapidly with practice. What most interests him is resolving systemic issues so that problems do not recur. That includes helping people shift paradigms in order to understand things better and build more effective routines.

Over the years he’s put together a toolbox of foundational concepts to help people express what matters most and to provide a place to start learning how to overcome different kinds of obstacles. Most recently Alex has taken his experience with seeing the different perspectives across a wide variety of disagreements and developed a systematic approach for reconciling conflicts.

This is the simplest, most impactful tool so far, and with it he’s been helping people understand each other and frame situations constructively. That’s how we can build a world we can all be proud of. Tune into this episode of navigating Complicated Relationships with your host, Michaela Gaffen Stone and her special guest to learn more about Alex’s life’s work. It’s his passion and his mission!
