Seeing Through Anger in Business: How to Transform Frustration into Fuel ~ Christine McIver
Let’s be honest, business can really test your patience. There are days when things go sideways, clients ghost you, or systems break down, and suddenly you’re seeing red. I’ve been there. But what I’ve learned over the years is this: anger isn’t the enemy. In fact, it can be a powerful tool – if you’re willing to see through it.
Anger is a natural emotion. It shows up when our boundaries are crossed, our expectations aren’t met, or we feel like something’s unjust. But when we don’t stop to acknowledge it – when we let it take the wheel – we make choices that can derail our business.
So here’s what I want you to know: anger is information. It’s your body and mind saying, “Something’s off.” When you allow yourself to pause and look beneath the surface, anger can actually reveal where a lie exists, where you’ve ignored your instincts, or where you’ve tolerated something that doesn’t align with your values.
That awareness is gold. It gives you the power to step back, breathe, and shift from reaction to strategy.
I’ve had contracts broken, relationships go sour, and team members push every last button. And yes, I’ve wanted to lash out more than once. But what I’ve learned is that taking time to cool down, before making a decision, almost always pays off. Because on the other side of that emotion is clarity. And clarity is what fuels smart, aligned choices that grow your business.
When we get curious about our anger instead of consumed by it, we become more powerful leaders – more grounded CEOs. We stop being victims of our circumstances and start owning our experience – every messy, emotional part of it.
So the next time anger rises up, don’t push it away. Let it show you what needs to change. That’s where the real growth begins.
