Many of us use negative self-talk to try and improve the way we feel about ourselves and to try and motivate ourselves.  All this does is put us in a state of stress, where our amygdala and hypothalamus are overproducing cortisol, the stress hormone.  Cortisol causes us to hold on to fat, especially belly fat, and keeps us in stress mode. EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, Tapping on particular points (which are acupuncture points), sends a message through the nervous system to the Amygdala and reduces Cortisol levels.  When your cortisol levels are reduced, the negative emotions and self talk reduces also.  Your serotonin levels rise.  Serotonin is the neurotransmitter that makes us feel good, happy, and balanced.
